The day after

So, this is my first post on my blog. I'm not sure if this will work out very well because I don't know what to write. However, I'm told I should be blogging, so here goes!
It's December 26. The day after Christmas. I have no interest in shopping. I know there are lots of sales, lots of deals, but no thanks. I would rather have some time to read and write. We did the family thing all day yesterday. It was great, but there was too much food and too many gifts. Every year we (I) say we will cut back on gifts, but somehow we can't get away from giving and receiving gifts. It's a nice thing to do and I enjoy giving a meaningful gift to those I love, but I do wish we could just change it up a bit. Why not just give to charity or spend time together? What if we made a meal for someone or went shopping to buy necessities for a needy family? I think that would be more fun. Instead, we try to give everyone gifts because we know they will give us something and we don't want to feel like a loser for not reciprocating. Ugh. what a waste. Is this what Christmas is supposed to be? I doubt it. Next year...........
So, this is supposed to be a garden blog. I do like to garden, but December is not the best time for gardening in Upstate NY. I have some ideas to make this blog a resource for gardeners in our area, so stay tuned and enjoy the post-Christmas leftovers.
